When deciding to sell your current home, there can be a flurry of questions to work through. It can be difficult to prioritize which questions to ask your listing agent first, and what other questions are not as important starting out.
We suggest first asking, “What is the average for days on the market for your listings?” This will tell you a lot about the realtor you are working with in terms of a sales plan, marketing strategy, etc.. For example, Alice’s average days on the market is 59. In comparison, the average for Tuscaloosa is 3-6 months. Knowing how the agent’s average compares to the area’s overall average is a key component when bringing on a listing agent.
While this should certainly be one of the first questions you ask a realtor when preparing to list your home, don’t stop there for there is plenty more you need to know. In an article on Realtor.com, ten more highly-important questions to ask are given, and we want to share those with you.
- What are your credentials?
- How many sales did you close last year?
- Do you specialize in this neighborhood?
- How do you arrive at the listing price?
- Whom will I be working with?
- How much will selling my home cost?
- What is your sales plan?
- What should I do to get my house ready?
- How will we communicate?
- How long will the process take?
